Veterinary authorities in Russia have placed a ban on the export of poultry products from 19 Brazilian poultry companies.

According to officials from the safety authority Rosselkhoznador, it was discovered that poultry had repeatedly been frozen, then defrosted, and then refrozen again at Santos and Itajai ports.
It has been reported that despite continual warnings from Rosselkhosnador, the food safety breaches continued. Consequently, Russian authorities said they had no alternative but to ban the exports from certain suppliers.
Before exports ar eresumed, Rosselkhoznador has urged Brazilian authorities to prove they have safety measures in place.
