Food defense – USDA surveys poultry slaughter plants

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service will soon conduct a survey to determine how many FSIS-regulated slaughter and processing plants have voluntarily adopted functional food defense plans.

The USDA stated that a food defense plan puts into place measures that reduce the chances of someone intentionally contaminating the food supply in order to kill or hurt people, disrupt the economy or ruin a business.
