Pakistan lifts ban on import of poultry products from China

15-12-2010 | | |

The Pakistan Ministry of Commerce lifted the ban on the import of processed and cooked poultry products from China, under the condition that only cooked products may be imported.

The condition, issued by the ministry stated that in exercise of powers conferred by the sections of Imports and Exports (Control) Act, 1950, the federal government has decided to amend the Import Policy Order 2009 and some of its provisos will be substituted.  Poultry commodity or product must be processed at not less than 70 degree Celsius for reasonable time length throughout manufacturing or cooking of the product to ensure the destruction of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HAPI) (H5NI) virus.
