Impaired feed conversion ratios due to overconsumption of feed

In most countries, feeds for broilers consist of finely ground ingredients that are fed in a pelleted form. This, combined with breeding programs for weight gain which has caused high appetite, has resulted in a bird with extremely high feed intake and weight gain. Recent results from Norway indicate that young broilers can over consume such feeds to the extent that normal digestion is impaired.
