New Cobb award goes to young Dutch farmer

A new award, recognising commitment of farmers in the Netherlands, has been introduced by Cobb Europe. The first person to receive this accolade is Jelle Jukema in recognition of rearing his 25th flock of Cobb500 broilers.

Located in Friesland in the north of Holland, Jukema is a young farmer combining broiler growing with arable production. He has two 35,000-bird broiler houses and 80 hectares (198 acres) of seed potato and vegetable production. He has reared Cobb500 broilers for five years, delivering birds with a final weight of 2.1 kg (4.6 lb) to Dutch processor Plukon.

“Jelle Jukema is a young enthusiastic professional who is eager to maximise the economical output of his farm,” said Martijn Gruyters, Cobb technical manager for the Netherlands and Belgium. “The new award recognises his commitment to the Cobb500, rewarding the trust and confidence he’s always shown in our company and our people.”
