Outbreak of mild AI in the Netherlands

A new case of AI has been discovered on a poultry farm in Tzummarum, in the northern part of the Netherlands. The 22.000 hens on the farm will be culled.

According to the Dutch department of economic affairs it’s a case of low pathogen H7N7. Around the poultry farm a safety zone of 1 kilometre in diameter has been established; all transport of poultry, eggs, manure or used litter is forbidden.

The infection was discovered after a decrease in egg production.
