The development of a novel vaccine against coccidiosis

Over the past 15 years a great deal of work has been carried out by Dr. Michael Wallach to develop a new, subunit vaccine against coccidiosis in chickens. The new vaccine is based on the use of defined, purified gametocyte antigens from Eimeria maxima. It immunizes breeding hens just prior to their start of lay and provides protection to their offspring broiler chicks via maternal immunity.
