Hong Kong: Illegal shipment chickens seized

A shipment if live chickens without valid health certificates have been seized by marine police, near Yuen Long Creek, Hong Kong.

About 1,400 chickens and 130 silky fowl of unknown source in 110 cages were transported to the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department’s operation centre in Ta Kwu Ling, Hong kong. It is reported that the department humanely put them down after taking samples used for testing.
 
The public was reminded by the department not to bring live poultry into Hong Kong without valid health certificates, without the certificates they could be fined $25,000.
 
In the first 11 months of this year, the department seized 500 chickens that were illegally imported into Hong Kong.
