New poultry disease clinic in Egypt

The National Research Centre has set up new department dedicated to poultry diseases, aimed at strengthening nationwide efforts to fight the spread of the bird flu virus.

The department is aimed at developing and protecting the industry that provides three million jobs to Egyptians.
A specialist in poultry diseases at the centre, Dr Mohamed Utaat said that the department will undertake comprehensive periodical surveys, using modern technology to pinpoint the causes of the diseases and their developments.
The veterinary research section will also run a veterinary clinic for poultry and is expected to provide services to poultry farm owners, such as diagnosis, treatments and programmes for vaccination.
The new department will also consult with the biggest poultry-producing companies as well as organise training courses that will offer guidance in dealing with diseases.
