Iran looking to stop imports
According to Iran's minister of agriculture, the
country's poultry production has surpassed domestic
At a joint assembly with managing directors and boards of directors of
cooperatives and poultry units of Mazandaran, a northern province of Iran,
agriculture minister Mohammadreza Eskandari expressed hope to stamp out poultry
and eggs imports.
The minister also added that there may even be possibility of poultry
exports by the end of the Iranian year (to end on March 20, 2008) under more
cooperation of producers.
â€œThrough the successful implementation of organisation plan for the poultry
and eggs market, the country will be self-contained from its imports,â€ he
