India: Price of eggs highest in 25 years

The skyrocketing price of raw feed materials, together with the early onset of winter, has prompted a sharp hike in the price of table egg in India.

Eggs now cost Rs2.25 (US$0.05; €0.04) per unit at the farm gate – this is the first time prices have hit this level in 25 years since the organised poultry industry came into existence in the country, reports The Hindu.
