It is expected that 20 million doses of the bird flu vaccine will make its way to Vietnam within the coming week, provided all goes to plan.

The donation was made by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), and announced on Ha Noi on March 14 at a ceremony where The Director in charge, General Bernard Vallat was presented with Vietnam ‘s insignia for “the cause of agriculture development”.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat spoke of his appreciation for the OIE’s cooperation on several projects, including practical recommendations and expertise in the fight against epidemics, with particular reference to bird flu. “Vietnam’s initial successes in the fight against bird flu are attributed not only to the government’s high resolve, but also to close cooperation with OIE,” he stated.
