China reports 5th bird flu death

China reports the country’s 5th fatality as a consequence of bird flu following the death of an 18-year old male in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Reports from China state that the man fell ill on 19 January in Guangxi. He was transferred to Yulin Municipal Red Cross Hospital on 24 January but died on 26 January after testing positive for the H5N1 strain of avian influenza, according to the test result on Monday from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
