Pacific Egg & Poultry Association meets in California
The Pacific Egg & Poultry Association will hold its 86th Annual Convention on February 15-18 in Napa Valley, California at the Meritage Resort and Spa.
Speakers during convention’s annual meeting on Feb. 16 will be
- John Eagan, vice president of Costco Co.;
- Kevin Sprouse, director of development for the Center for Food Integrity; and
- Alex Avery, director of research & education of the Center for Global Food Issues at the Hudson Institute (invited).
During the President’s Breakfast on Feb. 17, attendees will hear Julian Madeley, director general of the International Egg Commission headquartered in London, England.
Also during the breakfast, Rooster Club members and convention sponsors will be honoured; and awards presented to the Industry Person of the Year and the Poultry Scientist of the Year.
On the same day General Session 2 will examine Poultry Housing: Moving with Sustainability.
Speakers will include
- Terry Pollard, regional sales manager, Big Dutchman Inc.;
- David Leavell, sales and marketing manager, Farmer Automatic of America;
- David Simmons, sales director, Salmet International; and
- a representative of Chore Time Brock Manufacturing.
General Session 3 will be devoted to Industry Reports with
- Chad Gregory, senior vice president, United Egg Producers;
- Kevin Burkum, vice president of marketing, American Egg Board;
- a representative from the California Department of Food & Agriculture and
- an invited representative from USDA.
Students from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, Modesto Junior College, Oregon State University and the University of California-Davis will be honoured at the Student & Industry Omelet Breakfast.
The Western Poultry Scholarship & Research Foundation will also award the 2010 scholarship winners.
Other planned activities include the annual PEPA Convention Golf Tournament and the Political Action Committee Live Auction, the Napa Valley Wine Train with stops at up to three different wine tasting rooms and Hot Air Ballooning above the valley of vineyards.
