Aviagen talks technical in Europe
Over 30 of Aviagen’s European technical managers from 12 countries gathered in Scotland recently to share knowledge, and discuss the latest support advice on a wide range of topics.
The 3-day event was the first to be chaired by Alan Thomson who, together with his colleagues Jonny Harrison and Otto van Tuijl, is responsible for the provision of Aviagen‘s technical service in Europe. Three new technical managers for Russia and Eastern Europe joined the technical forum for the first time and met with colleagues.
Alan Thomson: “This meeting is an integral part of our customer support process as it provides a forum for broader discussion and sharing of knowledge and experience from all over Europe, ensuring our customers receive consistent and relevant advice. The European Team has an incredible combination of skills, languages and technical expertise and I am extremely proud that we are able to provide such an unparalleled level of support.”
The attendees also heard from UK Breeding Programme Director, Jim McAdam, on the latest products and initiatives his team has been working on. Similarly, McAdam was able to hear first-hand the findings from the field and the challenges that customers face on a daily basis.
“This meeting highlights the close working relationship between our technical and research and development teams. We have more people on the ground, in more countries and environments, than anyone else and information from our customers is fed into the research programmes to make sure we are all working together to produce the right products for our customers,” said McAdam.
Key topics
Key topic areas discussed included a day long nutrition workshop, an area which has been the subject of many questions from customers and is often one of the most difficult areas to get right as feed quality can vary from country to country. The day was very hands-on with numerous workshops and techniques to demonstrate best practice in the field.
