Bahrain: $26 mln poultry company established

Preparations are in full swing to establish a private poultry company in Bahrain as part of a BD10 mln ($26.5 mln) investment project, reports TradeArabia.

Reports state that the new firm will produce up to 10 mln chickens per annum and meet a substantial portion of consumers’ needs at an affordable prices.

Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro has received Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry food committee chairman Ibrahim Al Daissi who updated him on the project.

He also introduced members of the constituent committee in charge of setting up the company.

They include Bahrain Poultry Farmers’ Society chairman Hamza Al Madhoub, deputy chairman Ahmed Al Dawood, secretary-general Ibrahim Al Khair and BCCI food committee member Sami Zainal.

Dr Fakhro reaffirmed the government’s support for initiatives spearheaded by the private sector to promote Bahrain’s food security.
