Inaugural symposium highlights importance of partnership in poultry

Poultry specialists from across Latin America gathered in Buenos Aires last week to attend the first Partnership for the Future Symposium, organised by Pfizer Animal Health Global Poultry.

Held on the eve of the region’s poultry congress, the meeting saw 100 delegates discuss the latest in poultry disease trends, as well as the new solutions available to ensure bird health and drive industry performance.

Hector Badillo, Group Director, Global Marketing for Pfizer Global Poultry, said the industry must forge new partnerships to ensure future success.

“The industry is experiencing increasing performance pressure across the production chain, so it has never been more important to forge new relationships to maximise efficiencies and capitalise on new technologies.”

The inaugural meeting included presentations on a wide range of topics including a review of the poultry industry in the region by Dr Osler Desouzart, head of OD Consulting and member of the Advisory Board of the World Agriculture Forum.

Dr Desouzart warned that the industry must work together and build new partnerships, particularly as demand for poultry production in the region is likely to soar to new heights before the end of the decade.

The meat industry expert gave his thoughts on global meat production, trade and consumption, and demonstrated the changes in trends over the past three decades.

“The next 30 years will change the landscape of livestock production. They will see production, consumption and trade switching to developing countries, and a new emphasis on value rather than cost.”
