PHOTO REPORT: Agrame in the heart of the Middle East
Like in many countries in the Middle East, poultry production is also substantial in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). And particularly because of its major airport, Emirate Dubai has become an important hub in the Middle East region. As such it is also an excellent location for an agricultural exhibition.
For this reason, the Agra Middle East (Agrame) show is being held annually in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, along with veterinary trade event Vetme. This years’ edition of the show took place from March 25-27. World Poultry took the chance to visit the event and covered some of the highlights.
Agrame is a general agricultural show, covering both animal and crop production. But logically poultry plays a major part. About 350 companies exhibited and attracted by around 9,600 visitors, representing 85 nationalities. By that, it has become a true international event. Apart from the exhibition, also an agribusiness forum and a poultry outlook forum took place, attracting 150 delegates. Speakers from the ME region, as well as from abroad addressed the audience. Focus for both events was on sustainable production. Particularly in the ME region, with its limited natural resources (water), of course a logical choice.
Concurrently, a free seminar programme took place at the show floor, covering a wide range of topics.
In order to stimulate innovation in agriculture, Agrame is running an award programme. This years’ nominees were judged by an expert panel who selected the winners from a shortlist of 14 projects across five categories.
The honour for innovation in poultry went to Texha from Ukraine, for its broiler growing cage system with a robotised unloading system. This is to minimise human influence on the technological process.
UK-based Agri Lamp was given the award for the “Best new poultry product for the Gulf market” for their induction power systems designed specifically for the poultry industry. The new system contains a patented light induction technology, that is designed to be a safe, energy efficient and user-friendly lighting system.
