Belarus invests in large turkey complex

Poultry Breeding Plant Belarusski, a major turkey producer in Belarus has recently announced plans to begin construction of a complex for fattening turkeys for meat. The total investment in the project will be € 86.7 million, making it the most expensive project for turkey production in Belarus.

€58.7 million of the investment will be loaned from the largest Israeli bank Hapoalim, €9.5 million will be loaned from the Belarusian BPS Savings Bank, and  the rest will be the own funds of the company, representatives explained.

The company plans to complete the construction of the complex in July 2014. Its capacity will be equal to 12,000 tonnes of turkey meat per year. About 75% of production will be available for export. The company expects to sell about 9,000 tonnes in Russia, while the rest – in all areas of Belarus.

This is the second recently announced project for large-scale production of turkeys in the territory of Belarus. In the Grodno region, Novoelnyansky Bakery, is constructing a complex for 12,000 tonnes of turkey meat per year, and the main investments are also coming from several Israeli banks.
