USDA reports increase hatchery broiler eggs
According to US Department of Agriculture's
(USDA's) 19-state weekly broiler reporting program, there were 1% more broiler
eggs set than the corresponding week one year ago.
Broiler growers in the19-state weekly USDA
reporting program placed 174 million broiler chicks on farms during the week
ending 16 September 16 2006.
Average hatchability for chicks hatched during
the week was 83 percent, NASS
reported. Average hatchability is calculated by dividing
chicks hatched during the week by eggs set three weeks earlier.
