Getting rid of darkling beetles with new insecticide

Bayer Animal Health is now offering a new addition to their product line-up for darkling beetle control ‘ Credo’ SC Insecticide, which contains the active ingredient imidacloprid, effective against adult and larval darkling beetles.

Darkling beetles pose serious problems for the poultry industry – spreading disease, destroying insulation, and consuming poultry feed.
Credo SC utilises a class of chemistry new to darkling beetle control, developed by Bayer Animal Health and specifically formulated for use in poultry houses. There is increasing concern that these darkling beetles are becoming resistant to insecticides. According to the company, however, the beetles will be exposed to a completely new kind of insecticide when using Credo SC with its active ingredient.
The company states that 1 bottle of Credo SC will treat a 20,000 sq ft poultry house using band application, and a single rate is effective at killing both adult and larval darkling beetles. Specifically, it can be used in broiler houses, caged layer houses, breeder houses, and turkey houses as either a band or broadcast treatment.
A single rate is effective for control that lasts through the growout, states that company. This product, which can be applied at a rate of 3 fl. oz. in 1/2 to 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft., can be applied with a sprayer, including backpack sprayers and vehicle-mounted spray rigs.
