Ukraine extends poultry meat license for 2012

The Cabinet of Ministers in the Ukraine has extended the licensing of imports of fresh, chilled or frozen poultry meat in 2012, which was introduced in April 2011.

According to a document made public on December 29, the licensing of imports of lard without lean parts, pork fat and poultry fat has also been extended for next year.

According to the State Statistics Service, in January-October 2011, imports of fresh, chilled or frozen poultry meat totaled 48,340 tons for USD 48.36 million, while exports reached 45,710 tons worth USD 72.35 million. Imports of lard without lean parts, pork fat and poultry fat amounted to 23,220 tons for USD 19.97 million, while exports – 30 tons worth USD 60,000.

In 2010, imports of fresh, chilled or frozen poultry meat amounted to 154,620 tons worth USD 176.63 million, whereas exports – 32,460 tons worth USD 41.37 million. Imports of lard without lean parts, pork fat and poultry fat totaled 42,030 tons worth USD 36.43 million, and exports – 20 tons worth USD 40,000.
