Impaired feed conversion ratios due to overconsumption of feed
In most countries, feeds for broilers consist of finely ground ingredients
that are fed in a pelleted form. This, combined with breeding programs for
weight gain which has caused high appetite, has resulted in a bird with
extremely high feed intake and weight gain. Recent results from Norway indicate
that young broilers can over consume such feeds to the extent that normal
digestion is impaired.
