Cobb Vantress opens subsidiary in Colombia
Global poultry genetics firm Cobb-Vantress has launched its first unit in Colombia this week and is also looking at meeting the growing demands of the Ecuadorian poultry market.
Cobb Colombia’s new unit is the first operation from a multinational company specialising in poultry genetics in the country and will fall under the Cobb-Vantress Brazil management umbrella.
Cobb already has grandparent stock on the ground in Colombia and expects to operate at full capacity within the next 6 months to supply the region with Cobb’s latest product: the MV Male. Additionally, eggs from the firm’s Brazil operation will be provided to increase production.
Jairo Arenazio, general manager of Cobb South America, said the additional unit would consolidate the quality of products throughout the region: “We are pleased to establish a more formal presence in the country and bring in new investments.
“Next, we will be seeking Compartment Certification for our production unit in Colombia to align with our regional headquarters in Brazil,” he added.
In the years ahead, Cobb Colombia anticipates helping meet the growing demand of the Ecuadorian poultry market. Poultry will be supplied by land using air-conditioned trucks with innovative technology developed by partners in the region.
