China lifts poultry ban
China has lifted a poultry import ban on a region of
Inner Mongolia where an outbreak of bird flu occurred last month, according to
state media.
Authorities had banned poultry from the Jiuyuan district of Baotou city
after about 1,000 chickens and ducks died suddenly on a poultry farm
there.
Around 30,000 fowl were slaughtered in response to the outbreak, and Inner
Mongolian officials declared on October 1 that the
outbreak
was under control.
No new cases of
bird
flu have been reported in China since.
