Romania invests 170 million in industry
The Romanian Union of Poultry Breeders (UCPR)
announced for the 2006 to 2007 period an investment programme of 170 million
euros.
According to a UCPR press release, 90 million euros of the total will be
used for the modernisation of slaughterhouses and processing facilities and the
rest of the sum will help in modernising poultry farms.
The union has 100 members of which 75 are poultry producers holding a 90
percent share of the Romanian poultry meat market.
UCPR membership requires strict compliance with European quality and
bio-security standards.
