Brazil will continue to be a major poultry producer and exporter
Although Brazil and all other South American countries are still free from
avian influenza, they are unlikely to reap any benefits form their disease-free
status. One of Brazil's major export markets, the EU, has decreased imports due
to a dramatic drop in consumption. Meanwhile, the exchange rate of Brazil's Real
to the Euro has made their broiler meat less competitive. And yet, in the face
of this adversity, the future is still bright for the Brazilian poultry
industry.
