KFC calls suit over trans fats frivolous
A lawsuit filed against KFC for cooking with partially hydrogenated oil has
been called frivolous by the company's spokeswoman, and that it will be fought
in court.
The suit was filed by Dr Arthur Hoyte, from Maryland, and the Center for
Science in the Public Interest, a consumer advocacy group. The claimants want
the company to either use different cooking oil or make consumers aware of the
level of trans fat in the restaurant's products before purchasing, plus monetary
damages.
The claimants are hoping to get class-action status for the
suit.
