Pilgrim Pride plant to reduce working schedule
Pilgrim Pride has announced that
its poultry processing facility in Timberville, Virginia, will close every other
Friday for the rest of the year, ultimately reducing production by
10%.
Pilgrim Pride announced the "skip day" work schedule, which is to begin on the
28th July, in a letter to employees on June 28th.
"Poultry in the
United States has had a hard time this year," Gary Rhodes, vice president of
corporate communications, told the Associated Press. "There's been a very weak
demand in the export market because of fears of avian flu."
