Sensitive data contained on stolen USDA laptop
A laptop and printouts containing details about United States Department of
Agriculture (USDA) employees and contractors was stolen from an employee's car
parked at a meat plant.
Personal information about 350 USDA employees and contractors involved in the
Agricultural Marketing
Service's meat grading programs
nationwide was stored on the laptop.
According to a USDA spokesman,
the laptop and printout were returned to the meat plant, however the bag they
were in had been rummaged through.
Last month a hacker gained access to data about 26,000
USDA employees, but according to the USDA did not download any of the information.
