Key to increasing egg production: classical music

A Gloucester chicken farmer believes that he is helping his hens to lay more eggs by playing classical music for them.

Charles Bourns, the National Farmers Union's poultry board chairman, said that it is evident that classical music helps to increase bird productivity, as he saw a huge rise in production after the musical therapy.
Classical music gently plays throughout the house each day, 24 hours a day, which Bourns says helps to increase the birds' growth rate as well.
"I have tried pop music, but it is too changeable, with lots of talking - the birds prefer Classic FM," he said.
