USDA to publish salmonella statuses of poultry farms

It seems likely that the USDA will soon be publishing salmonella statuses of poultry plants online.

Acting Agriculture Secretary Chuck Conner told this news to the National Chicken Council annual conference.
"Our inclination is to get information out before the consumer hears it from somebody else," said Conner, comparing the importance of disseminating such information to that of notifying the public of an outbreak of avian influenza or bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
"It's been our experience that when dealing with news to consumers…we need to get it out fully and quickly," he added.
