New poultry disease clinic in Egypt
The National Research Centre has set up new department
dedicated to poultry diseases, aimed at strengthening nationwide efforts to
fight the spread of the bird flu virus.
The department is aimed at developing and protecting
the industry that provides three million jobs to Egyptians.
A specialist in
poultry diseases at the centre, Dr Mohamed Utaat said that the department will
undertake comprehensive periodical surveys, using modern technology to pinpoint
the causes of the diseases and their developments.
The veterinary research
section will also run a veterinary clinic for poultry and is expected to provide
services to poultry farm owners, such as diagnosis, treatments and programmes
for vaccination.
The new department will also consult with the biggest
poultry-producing companies as well as organise training courses that will offer
guidance in dealing with diseases.
