Embrex wins patent case

25-04-2007 | |

Embrex has been awarded over US$1 million for damages caused by the infringement of two of its US Patents by Breuil S.A. and New Tech Solutions Inc.

The total amount awarded to Embrex, part of Pfizer Animal Health, was $1,074,993.94. The patents cover a method for distinguishing live from dead or infertile poultry eggs using pulsed light methodology and then taking that information and selectively injecting only eggs identified as suitable for inoculation.
The court also issued a permanent injunction against Breuil and New Tech Solutions to prevent any further infringement.
“Our key strategy is to develop, patent, commercialise and defend innovative in ovo technologies that add value to our customers and Pfizer shareholders,” said Joyce J. Lee, vice president of Worldwide Embrex. “To do this requires substantial investments by Embrex and we  will continue to protect our intellectual property against infringement.”
