In an effort to
promote processed meats domestically in
India and abroad,
India
plans to create a new Board:
The National Meat and Poultry Board.
India has plans to develop a new National
Meat and Poultry Board by June 2007. The Board will be responsible for
developing and promoting the sector. The Indian government is underway with
plans for the structure of this Board following the success of its National Dairy Development
Board.
The National Meat and Poultry Board would "act
as an apex body for the development and promotion of processed meat products for
positioning quality products in Indian and global markets," according to a
report.
