Salmonella cases increase in Victory
Reported cases of salmonella infection in Victoria have risen 21% in the
past five months, according to the Department of Human Services (DHS).
There have been over 800 reported cases of
salmonella in the state so far this year, a 21% increase
compared with the same time in 2006, said spokeswoman Dr Rosemary Lester.
"Investigations into some cases of salmonella have indicated the illness
may have been associated with raw eggs in food," Dr Lester said.
