Prof. Erik Vranken heads Fancom Research Group

As from 1 July, Prof. Erik Vranken heads the Fancom Research Group.

Vranken will remain active for one day a week at the University of Leuven, Belgium, where he has been involved in the research carried out for Fancom in Leuven for 15 years.
The Fancom Research Group will devote its attention in the coming years to developing a new generation of controllers and sensors. The technology developed in Leuven will be integrated in these products.
This move signals the next major step in Fancom’s strategy to improve the process in the house in an innovative way and to make it better manageable. This is to result in an improved animal welfare, a reduction of emission levels and improved profitability.
Erik Vranken about his new position: “In the next years a series of new products will be developed, with which the combination of a perfect climate, correct feed and intelligent data processing will lead to a higher production return and an improved animal welfare. For me as a scientist, it is an interesting challenge and a dreamed extension of my academic career to be able to translate research results into products, which the animal, the farmer, the environment and in the end the entire society will profit from.”
