The US Poultry & Egg Association, along with a coalition of
stakeholders, will sponsor an Animal Agriculture Environmental Sustainability
Summit from 27-28 January at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
This summit will be held in conjunction with the 2009 International Poultry
Expo and International Feed Expo. USPOULTRY will partner with the American Feed
Industry Association, Animal Agriculture Alliance, National Chicken Council,
National Pork Producers Council, National Renderers Association, National Turkey
Federation, and United Egg Producers in developing the cutting-edge
summit.
The programme will feature prominent experts from agriculture and top-level
executives from US retail and food service giant, who will identify and examine
the challenges posed by sustainability and protecting the environment, along
with feasible strategies for meeting those challenges.
“Animal agriculture has always led the way as a steward of the
environment,†explained Vernon Rowe, Pilgrim's Pride Corporation, programme
committee co-chairman. “This important conference will focus on the technologies
and innovations that will enable us to continue that stewardship."
Rowe continued in saying that the American consumer increasingly is
requiring environmental responsibility from all industries. “That responsibility
extends from farm to fork, including everyone in between, food producers,
processors, retail, and food service. So each segment must fulfill its own
responsibility. This summit will demonstrate the commitment and environmental
stewardship of animal agriculture,†he concluded.
Registration for the summit includes complimentary admission to the
IPE/IFE.
