Working with China on animal disease control
China's efforts in animal disease control and
prevention have been praised by the Director General of the World Organisation
for Animal Health (OIE), Bernard Vallat.
Vallet has called for more cooperation with China in the field. At a
seminar in Beijing, he told that China had played an important role in regional
and global major animal diseases control and prevention as well as related
international communication and cooperation. In May last year, China acquired
full OIE membership.
Vallet encouraged China to make more efforts in the field of veterinary
studies and to adjust to international animal health standards to improve animal
disease control and ensure public health.
Chinese vice agriculture minister, Yin Chengjie, said that
the country is ready to work under the OIE framework in animal disease control
and prevention and is willing to cooperate in animal disease standards setting
and disease control.
China has provided 23 bird flu strains to the World Health Organisation
(WTO) and published all these gene sequences, Yin added.
