Pilgrim’s Pride lays off 116 workers

18-09-2008 | |

Poultry processor Pilgrim’s Pride is laying off 116 workers at its poultry further processing plant in Franconia, Pennsylvania.

According to Ray Atkinson, this is part of ongoing efforts to operate more efficiently in light of the industry conditions that the company is facing, which is higher feed costs and the oversupply of chicken.

The plant will move the production of its individually quick frozen items to other company facilities, but will continue to produce several types of chicken salads.
