Low pathogen avian influenza detected in Germany
In Parchim, Germany, low pathogenic avian influenza (type H5) has been detected in a flock of hobby chickens.
The infection came to the forefront during a routine control, which is part of the monitoring programme for bird flu.
The animals did not show any clinical signs. The infection has been confirmed by the national reference lab. The region is now under quarantine, including a protection area of 1 kilometre around the farm.
