Editor Ad Bal to leave World Poultry

After heading World Poultry for over seven years, editor Ad Bal will leave the magazine and publishing company Reed Business Information. He will start his own business on communication in agriculture.

Ad was born and raised on a breeder farm in the Netherlands. He gained a BSc in agriculture and first joined World Poultry (WP) as a junior editor in 1984. At that time, WP was launched under the editorship of Wiebe van der Sluis. In 1987, Ad switched to a position in a commercial hatchery.

However, he returned to the publishing business and joined Reed Business Information again in 1988. Briefly he served as a project manager and then took the position as Editor of ‘Trekker’, a Dutch publication on farm machinery. This lasted until 2008, when Wiebe went into early retirement and Ad took over his position at WP, Poultry Processing Magazine (PPM) and Avicultura Profesional (AP), a Spanish poultry magazine for the Latin American market. Ad integrated these three magazines into one global brand: World Poultry.

The time has come for him to step down from WP. Ad will leave Reed Business Information and WP to become self-employed in the course of this year. He will start his own business in B2B marketing communication in agriculture. Reed Business Information thanks Ad for all the valuable work he has done over the years, especially for the International Agri team and World Poultry in particular.

Reed Business Information has appointed Fabian Brockötter as the dedicated editor for World Poultry.
