Texas student wins prestigious scholarship

The Poultry Science Association Foundation (PSA Foundation) was pleased to recognise Mr Austin Silva as the recipient of the 2019 Diamond V Endowed Scholarship.

The Poultry Science Association Foundation has awarded a prestigious scholarship to a student at Texas A&M University.

Austin Silva, a junior POSC/ANSC dual major enrolled in the Department of Poultry Science at Texas A&M University was recognised by Jim Denton, executive director of the Poultry Science Association Foundation, at a reception hosted by David Caldwell, department head in Poultry Science at Texas A&M University.

The Diamond V leadership team recognises the need to invest in the future leaders of our feed and food industries.” said Hilary Pavlidis, director of poultry research and technical services of Cargill’s Diamond V nutritional health business, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Diamond V Endowed Scholarship supports a student entering their junior year and is renewable for the senior year, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

It is designed to encourage promising scholars to continue studies at the graduate level in Poultry Science. The endowed scholarship was made possible through the PSA Foundation Charting Our Course – Securing Future Leadership for Poultry Campaign (Capital Campaign).
