The 7th edition of Poultry World 2019 is now online

In its latest edition Poultry World discovers what the added costs are for a higher level of welfare.

It does so after fast-food giant KFC has signed up to the Better Chicken Commitment in a number of European countries, which calls for slower-growing breeds, lower stocking densities and other enrichments, marking a major shift in its sourcing policy. The commitment is proving an effective marketing tool, but it adds to the cost of production.

In our main strategy article we focus on the development of Ukrainian poultry production as a threat to European farmers. Broiler meat exports from Ukraine to the European Union (EU) have been seen soaring over the past few years, raising concerns that the future of European farmers is at risk. However, new amendments to the Ukraine-EU trade deal are likely to curb export quantities and Ukrainian producers begin losing interest in the European market.
