Stan Reid takes the helm at Cobb

Cobb-Vantress has appointed Stan Reid, current vice president of North and South America to the role of interim president of their organisation. He is taking over the helm from Joel Sappenfield, who recently left the company. Reid has almost 40 years of experience in the industry and has been at Cobb for 20 years in a variety of roles. Stan was raised on a poultry and cattle farm in Alabama and spent his early career at Spring Valley Farms/Lane Poultry as a broiler service technician. “I am excited about the future of Cobb and continuing to move our business and iconic brand forward, we’re proud of the company’s critical role in helping feed people around the world,” said Reid.

Cobb team member wins Young Farmer of the Year

Victoria Axon of Cobb Europe won the award for Young Farmer of the Year at the 2020 National Egg & Poultry Awards. “Victoria consistently demonstrates natural leadership skills, technical expertise and a relentless commitment to quality,” said the company. After several promotions, she now runs pure line male rearing farms.

CP Foods targets Asian markets for “chicken rib” product

Charoen Pokphand Foods is set to export its “chicken rib” product across Asian markets. The chicken rib is, according to the company, a healthy special cut chicken product with a single thin bone, but which is tender, meaty and juicy. The product is already been exported to China and Japan. Meanwhile, the company has committed to buying corn only from responsible and traceable origins, which have legal documents for their agricultural land and prove their non-involvement with forest encroachment.

Sanovo and Global AGV enter distribution agreement

Sanovo Technology Robotics has entered into an exclusive global distribution agreement with Global AGV for the sales and service of Automated Guided Vehicles to the egg processing, hatchery and poultry industries.

Moba introduces Moba EggXtreme processing system

Moba introduces Moba EggXtreme, a patented industrial processing system that integrates a low-temperature radio frequency system. According the Moba, this new approach to egg processing ensures that the high quality and functional properties of the product stay intact during the entire process and protects the product from start to finish. In addition, the low temperatures achieve a gentler pasteurization process, which ensures that the pasteurized egg stays close to the characteristics of a fresh egg – a significant improvement for egg-based products.

Adisseo closes FRAmelco acquisition

Bluestar Adisseo has completed the acquisition of Dutch feed additive company FRAmelco Group, which operates 3 plants located in the Netherlands, Spain and Thailand. The business generates gross sales close to €30 million per year. Most of FRAmelco sales are made of glycerides (short and medium chain fatty acids) to enhance animal resilience and improve animal performance, and lysolecithins to increase feed digestibility.

Agrifirm launches young animal brand Earlyfeed

Royal Agrifirm Group has launched its new young animal nutrition brand called Earlyfeed, which offers nutritional solutions for the early development of newborn animals, which the company says improves animals’ resilience, health and performance. Earlyfeed is based on the young animal nutrition lines for ruminants, poultry and swine of Nuscience. Meanwhile, US-based Land O’Lakes and Royal Agrifirm Group announce a new strategic partnership in functional feed additives to expand presence and product portfolio through a global market access. The agreement is the third key partnership between the 2 cooperatives.

Nutreco launches soy sourcing policy to prevent deforestation

As part of Nutreco’s Sustainability Roadmap 2025, the company has launched its soy sourcing policy aimed at simplifying complex certification schemes for its procurement teams in Skretting and Trouw Nutrition and facilitating the removal of deforestation from its supply chain by 2025. To address the challenge of ensuring compliance with certifications, a transparent policy has been launched, highlighting soy-producing regions on low and high risk of deforestation, and outlining the procurement requirements in areas of higher risk.

Evonik takes NIR technology for feed analyses mobile

Evonik has launched AMINONIR Portable, a mobile NIR service with a world’s first – amino acid calibrations. It enables the determination of energy, nutrients in feed raw materials and feed, as well as amino acids in feed raw materials, on-site and independent of a laboratory. The hand-held device connects with the user’s tablet or cell phone. It requires only mobile signal reception and a handful of feed or raw material without further sample preparation to determine their quality at almost any location within minutes. It can be used to analyze over 40 different feed raw materials and feed mixtures for broilers, laying hens, pigs and fish.

HIPRA researching new Covid-19 vaccine for human health

Pharmaceutical company HIPRA is currently researching a new vaccine for Covid-19 by conducting 2 lines of research: one on its own and another in collaboration with the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona based on virus mRNA that guarantees long-term immunity.
