Now the supply of poultry meat to Russia has stopped, Iraq has become the largest importer of Ukraine poultry meat, according to the country’s officials.

As stated in the report of the Ukrainian Ministry of Incomes in the first seven months of 2014, the country exported 85,700 tonnes of poultry meat of a total cost of US$ 130.2 million. The highest volume of poultry were sold to the Iraqi market, with the total income from the sales to this destination amounting to US$36.7 million, which is 28% of the total value of exports of poultry meat, according to the estimations of the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club.

Within seven months of this year, Iraq imported about 22,000 tonnes of Ukraine poultry meat, while during the same period of 2013, exports amounted to only 8,000 tonnes. At the same time, the sale of poultry meat to Russia has dropped significantly. It should be noted that for many years the largest share of exports of poultry meat has been to Russia. However, each year the dependence on the market has been decreasing, according to the report.

In 2013, Ukrainian poultry producers managed to significantly diversify the markets for their products. The great achievement of the industry in the past year was the entry into the market of the European Union. During the seven months of this year, the Netherlands has already taken the second place in the list of the largest importers of Ukraine chicken with the share of about 10.5% of the total supplies.
