A new UK poultry company has been established following the green light of the joint venture between Cargill’s fresh chicken business and Faccenda’s fresh chicken, turkey and duck operation.

Avara Foods will be a 50/50 shared ownership between Cargill and Faccenda and will bring together 6,000 people in a fully integrated supply chain focusing on delivering high quality fresh food to UK customers.

It is the first substantial announcement following the approval of the Joint Venture by the UK’s Competition and Market Authority in December.

Andy Dawkins, CEO of the new company, said bringing together 2 successful businesses with high standards, shared values and strong reputations for building sustainable partnerships marked an exciting day for the business.

Great service and innovation

“Now the opportunity is to take the best from both and provide our customers with great service and innovation from a trusted leader in fresh foods.

“We believe that it is our strong values and talented people that make the difference and will be key to the success of our business now and in the future. Our first step is to make sure that there is a smooth transition as we bring together the 2 businesses as Avara Foods, and establish a solid platform for growth.”
