KFC chicken shortage causes social media outrage

The shortage has not gone unnoticed on social media, with many consumers taking to sites like Twitter and Facebook to express their disappointment.

Restaurants across London, the Midlands, Wales and the North East are all closed as the fast food chain deals with its supply issues.

The problem was reportedly caused by KFC changing its delivery company from Bidvest to DHL.

In a statement, the chain said it was teething problems caused by switching supplier: “We’ve bought a new partner onboard, but they’ve had a couple of teething problems, getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants is pretty complex.”

It has set up a website highlighting the nearest open restaurant that keen fried-chicken connoisseurs can check.
