Northern-Ireland headquartered poultry integrator Moy Park is processing six million birds a week for the first time in its 75-year history.

The milestone gives Moy Park a 30% market share for UK-produced poultry meat, according to the company, with production up 20% since 2015 alone.

It has 12 processing facilities across Europe, with more than 800 farms in its supply chain.

David Gibson, Moy Park director of agriculture, said, “By continuing to invest in our industry-leading agricultural base and state-of-the-art processing facilities, along with customer focused innovation, this latest announcement creates a solid platform for future growth. Demand for our products remains strong across all our regions and the business is well placed to expand on its position as a leading European food company.”

The company is ultimately owned by American poultry producing giant Pilgrims Pride, which recently installed Greencore Group veteran Chris Kirke as president of the Moy Park division of its business.
