Lallemand appoints new business development manager

Lallemand Animal Nutrition subsidiary Microbial Developments has announced that it has appointed Jonathan Harrison as Aviguard Business Development Manager, effective 1st October 2013.

Aviguard is a avian competitive exclusion product that aids the rapid establishment of normal gut flora in day old chicks thereby minimising colonisation by transient pathogenic bacteria such as Salmonella, E. Coli and Clostridium perfringens. Aviguard is sold in over 36 countries and is widely used in by the major producers of broilers, layers, breeders, parent and grandparent stock.

Jonathan joins Microbial Developments with over 25 years in the poultry industry, of which nine years with Aviagen UK/Eastern Europe where he held various roles in business development and in global technical support for the Ross and Arbor Acre brands, covering all aspects of breeding and broiler production. Prior to this he was an area farms manager with P.D Hook Broilers.

He succeeds, Sue Reynolds, who retires from Microbial Developments in August 2013 to concentrate on her farming and anaerobic digester businesses.

Commenting on the appointment, Tim Pollock, Lallemand’s Strategic Development Director said: “Jonathan’s in depth technical expertise across the broiler and breeder industry and his practical knowledge of hatchery and broiler farm operations will be invaluable as we continue to develop sales of Aviguard and Aviguard derivatives through our global distributor network. With ever increasing consumer and regulatory pressures on the poultry industry to minimise the routine use of antibiotics, Aviguard is well positioned for the future, complementing our existing portfolio of poultry products.
